The Race of My Life is the autobiography of Milkha Singh

The Race of My Life is the autobiography of Milkha Singh better known as “The Flying Sikh”. His autobiography was launched after the release of the movie Bhaag Milkha Bhaag a biographical sports drama film based on the life of Milkha Singh. The movie was superhit movie of 2013. The success of the movie inspired people to read his autobiography. I was also among such people.

I read the book in order to get the minute details about the different event of his life which got skipped in the movie. Sadly those insights are not so deep. Like the Flying Singh his book was also fast paced and dwelling too much. Of course we is not a expert writer.

The book is written in the simple straight flowing way. The writing didn’t impress me much. But no worries. It is an inspirational book and it does it works very well.

Milkha Singh is very clear in giving away the message that there is no short cut to success. Sheer determination, will power and hard work with some luck is the only way to success in life. Working hard with integrity will help you to overcome any stumble block in the path of your goal.

The author writes about his personal life. He talks about his married life with that emotional touch that touches the heart. He talks about both his gloomy and blissful days, success and failure, strength and weakness without any bias. There are also photographs included in to the book.

Verdict: Recommended if you are a Milkha Singh fan. But even not then also the book inspires you to possess strong willpower which will ultimately lead you to fulfill of your dreams.
